Universal Health Net

Support Groups

Universal Health Net offers free monthly support groups in the safety and comfort our offices that are run with the experience and expertise of our Chaplain. Each support group provides educational topics and time to for group discussion with other members of the support group.

Support Groups are a valuable resource for patients, family caregivers or the patient’s loved ones. They can provide emotional and spiritual support, information about community resources, education on a range of health topics, friendship and comradery. Support groups are a useful tool in the acceptance and grieving process. UHN recognizes that   individuals need a place to feel safe, comfortable, understood and supported during this journey. Our support groups can also provide a break from the loneliness and the boredom that often accompanies grief.

There is no single solution to dealing with loss, but we find that members of our support group can offer a range of alternatives and learn new strategies. By listening to stories of how others cope with a specific problem, one can find the solution that might work best. Participating in a support group can help the members find new empathy, understanding, and renewed strengths.
