It involves a care team of physician’s (physician of choice or hospice physician), nurses, social workers, chaplain/spiritual counsellors, dietitians, physio therapists, care givers, volunteers and more to support the patient and family.
Our hospice care covers all medical equipment, medications, personal care products, oxygen and wound care products. Best of all, it’s 100% covered by Medicare & MediCal so there is no cost to the patient or loved ones. The patient is not committed to hospice care and can cease it at any time.
When Is Hospice Care Suitable?
A patient is considered suitable for hospice when they have a terminal prognosis, have noticed a rapid decline in a year or less and or cannot care for themselves independently. Typically, patients have a 6-month prognosis, but many are in hospice care for longer. In fact, some patient’s symptoms may stabilize or improve in hospice due to the level of care and comfort they have received.
